With approximately 30 years of experience, Bernadette is the first female Controller at Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan). Metropolitan is the largest water district in the United States, developing, storing and distributing water, at wholesale, to its 26 member public agencies for domestic and municipal purposes. Metropolitan's service area comprises approximately 5,200 square miles and includes portions of the six counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura. Bernadette manages an annual operating budget of nearly $2 billion, making forward-thinking investments in water supplies, storage, conservation and treatment, and responsibly maintaining existing infrastructure.
